India's first professional golf tour — transforming the sport for a new era
The Indian Golf Premier League (IGPL) is committed to transforming the golf landscape in India by promoting a faster-paced, younger, inclusive, and screen-centric culture. As India's first-ever professional golf tour, IGPL empowers professional golfers by offering strategic pathways to success through competitive events across premier courses.
IGPL provides the golf community with a modern platform to engage with the sport through passionate fandom. It envisions a reimagined golf experience that seamlessly blends live viewing with dynamic digital platforms — elevating the sport to a whole new level and bringing the essence of sheer golfing prowess to India.
Backed by the vision of cricket legend Yuvraj Singh as co-founder and brand ambassador, IGPL has secured official approval from the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, forged partnerships with the Indian Golf Union (IGU) and the Women's Golf Association of India (WGAI), and earned the backing of the Asian Tour — setting the stage for a true revolution in Indian golf.
Inspired by the T20 revolution in cricket, IGPL introduces a format that makes golf faster, more engaging, and easier to follow. The tour features a unique format where male and female professional golfers compete together — the first of its kind globally.
The IGPL Season 2025 inaugurated with a 10-week tour across India and international venues, covering cities from Chandigarh and Delhi to Mumbai, Pune, Kolkata, Jamshedpur, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Dubai, and Sri Lanka. The tour operates on a no-cut, three-day stroke play format — ensuring all players complete every round, removing the financial anxiety of early elimination that burdens many young professionals.
The tour introduces three electrifying event styles. The Tour features no-cut play across iconic venues. Turf Wars brings direct city-versus-city matchups in 9-hole match play. Showdown introduces X-Treme Golf, pushing players with relay formats where four players are assigned as driver, fairway, approach, and putter.
IGPL is proudly hosting India's first-ever professional tour to feature both men and women playing on the same platform, competing for equal prize money. This integrated format redefines how golf is played in India and reflects IGPL's unwavering commitment to inclusive excellence and athlete empowerment.
Through its partnership with the Women's Golf Association of India (WGAI), IGPL provides structured, high-visibility platforms for female athletes. Star women golfers like Ridhima Dilawari, Vani Kapoor, and Hitaashee Bakshi have already made their mark in IGPL events — with Hitaashee firing a brilliant 7-under 63 at the Pune Invitational, proving the quality and competitiveness of women's golf in India.
The inaugural IGPL Tour season was nothing short of extraordinary. Here are some of the defining moments:
Gaganjeet Bhullar — India's winningest player on the Asian Tour — captured the first two IGPL events in Chandigarh and Jaypee Greens, including a memorable hole-in-one. He signed on as an Icon Player, declaring IGPL "a launchpad for future generations."
Kapil Kumar grabbed a dramatic maiden professional win at the IGPL Invitational Pune after a thrilling playoff — the biggest cheque of his career at ₹22.50 lakh. "The IGPL has brought me my first professional win," he said with emotion.
Aman Raj dominated mid-season, winning back-to-back titles in Jaipur and Kolkata, becoming the first player to amass more than ₹50 lakhs on the IGPL. He used the IGPL pathway to target the Asian Tour and International Series.
Pukhraj Singh Gill blazed through Jamshedpur with a record-breaking 9-shot victory — the largest margin in IGPL history — climbing to second on the Order of Merit.
Karandeep Kochhar crowned the Dubai debut with a maiden IGPL win at The Els Club, hosted by Shiv Kapur — marking IGPL's historic international expansion into the UAE.
IGPL's ambition extends far beyond Indian borders. In its very first season, the tour staged international events in Dubai (at the prestigious Els Club) and Sri Lanka. The Dubai debut was hailed as a significant milestone for golf in Asia by the Emirates Golf Federation.
IGPL is not just India's tour — it's India's gift to global golf. The tour is expanding internationally from the very first year itself, creating opportunities for Indian players to compete globally and for international golfers to experience India's emerging golf scene.
In January 2026, IGPL unveiled the 'Golf Growth Initiative' at Delhi Golf Club alongside tennis legend Leander Paes — a landmark programme in collaboration with IGU, PGAI, and The Golf Foundation designed to take golf beyond elite clubs directly into schools, playgrounds, and underserved regions.
World-class training centres are being established in Odisha, Gurgaon, and Andhra Pradesh. Senior stars including Jeev Milkha Singh, Jyoti Randhawa, Shiv Kapur, Gaganjeet Bhullar, SSP Chawrasia, and Gaurav Ghei serve as mentors to young players — bridging the gap between raw potential and professional excellence.
The IGPL tour pathway guarantees that the top four finishers on the Order of Merit earn qualification for the Asian Tour's Qualifying School Final stage, while the overall topper secures a spot in the International Series and Open Qualifying Series Tournaments — providing concrete international opportunities for Indian talent.
The legends who bring prestige and star power to the IGPL Tour — serving as mentors, competitors, and ambassadors for Indian golf's future.
